Poem: The Things of This World

The Things of This World 1

The things of this world have
gone a remove while fasting

as if through a kind of glazed window just
out of reach

which is where they always are though we
clutch their ghosts to us in a

curious waltz and
hope for the best

Ramadan casts its star-like
light making things stand out in

sharp relief from an
even starrier background

releasing us in His Mercy from their
clankier chains
9 Ramadan
